I am excited about some of the opportunities that will be provided for the students. One of the goals for this year is to maximize the website in order to ensure that parents, teachers, students and the community at large are aware of the events that we have to offer. We are committed to providing students with a rich educational experience at Bret Harte School. The vision for our students is that they will become lifelong readers and writers, problem-solvers, and theory-builders through an emphasis on literacy, mathematics, and science.
Parents are always welcome at Bret Harte School. There are many ways to contribute to your child's success by volunteering at the school. Attending Local School Council (L.S.C.) and Parent Advisory Council (P.A.C.) meetings, actively participating with parent or school sponsored events, serving as a chaperone for a field trip are excellent ways to become more involved. This school year, we will offer additional workshops and parent nights in order to create a connection between home and school by assisting parents with strategies that work with their children. Throughout the year, you will receive monthly newsletters, automated phone messages as reminders regarding upcoming events.
Building relationships amongst the administration, parents, teachers, students and the community is vital to the success of our school. Thank you for being a part of the Bret Harte Family. I look forward to working with you and your children this school year.

Dismissal: 3:15 pm
Staff supervision of students start at 7:45 am and students are not be permitted to enter the building prior to 7:45am. Students are dismissed at 3:15pm and parents are expected to pick-up students on time. Tuition based after-care services are available to support families until 6:00 pm. Please contact the school for registration of the after-care program.
Ice Cream Social
You are cordially invited to attend our Back-To-School Ice Cream Social on Friday, August 29th from 1:30pm – 3:15 pm. Please join us as we welcome our new our returning families for the 2014-2015 school year. This is a great opportunity to meet your child’s teacher, the school staff and to build relationships with other Bret Harte Families.
Open House on Tuesday, September 9, 2014. During this event, the “State of Harte School” Address will be delivered highlighting the performance data, instructional goals, partnerships and the initiatives for the school. This is also a wonderful opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher and receive more information about the curriculum and programs that will be offered this year.
Each student in K-8th are assessed a $50 fee that can be paid in cash or money order (payable to Bret Harte School). The student fee payments can be made prior to the first day of school, in the main office and a receipt will be provided at that time. All school fees must be paid by September 26, 2014.
Students must adhere to the school uniform policy everyday. Students must report on the first day of school – September 2, 2014 fully dressed. The uniforms consist of the following:
Khaki (Tan) bottoms - pants, skirts, skorts, knee length shorts and capri length pants
Light blue or white shirts – polo/collar shirts
Students that adhere to the uniform policy for the entire month can participate in the “Badger Day” school-wide uniform incentive on the last Friday of each month. The cost to participate is $1 each month or $10 for the year. The “Badger Days” are scheduled for September 26th, October 31st, November 21st, December 19th, January 23rd, February 27th, March 27th, April 24th, May 29th and June 5th.
